Counseling Ministry Under Development

Picture
Purpose Statement
Our Counseling Ministry focus is to guide and help individuals as they seek to discover Christ-centered answers to personal struggles and relationship challenges in a safe and caring environment. Our volunteer Church Counselors will have gone through extensive biblically based counseling training and receive ongoing supervision and continuing education on a regular basis. The goal of each Church Counselor is to bring God’s truth, hope and healing to those who come in for counseling.  FIRST STEP TO RECEIVE COUNSELING?
CALL THE COUNSELING MINISTRY: 313-397-1480 between 9:30am-4:40 pm Monday-Friday

You will speak with a Counseling Coordinator who will gather some information to better understand your needs and to determine the best counseling recommendations. If you are recommended for counseling with one of our Church Counselors, then the Coordinator will get your scheduling and contact information. Once an opening becomes available, you will be called and offered the weekly appointment time. Counselors meet with their Counsels for 30 minutes every week. There is no cost for counseling and, provided that the Counselee is consistently participating and making progress, the number of sessions is not limited. The Counseling Ministry considers it an honor to serve those in our church and community and looks forward to hearing from you.

WHAT'S THE FIRST STEP TO BECOMING A CHURCH COUNSELOR?
If you are interested in serving as a Church Counselor, the first step is to attend Church Counseling training classes. Provided once a year, training is designed to prepare individuals to apply to become a Church Counselor. The role of a Church Counselor is to provide free, Spiritual counseling to individuals in our church and our community seeking guidance for a variety of issues including: marital & family relationships, communication & intimacy, grief & loss, anger & bitterness, interpersonal struggles, and parenting- with an overall emphasis on spiritual development. Our Counselors receive extensive training, ongoing supervision, and continuing education. This ministry helps fulfill Bishop Jeffery L Knight Our Pastor & Founders vision for A.T.O.M Church Ministry : "It is the dream of a place where the hurting, the depressed, the frustrated, and the confused can find love, acceptance, help, hope, forgiveness, guidance and encouragement."
